Speaker Spotlight: Interview with Sangita Singh of Vink Chemicals
Monday, 5 August 2024
Sangita Singh, Head of Product Development and Technical Support, Biocides and Industrial Hygiene at Vink Chemical will take to the stage on Day 3 (19 September) of Lubricant Expo Europe 2024 in Düsseldorf for the session Examining Performance Requirements of Next-Generation Metal Working Fluids. Read our exclusive interview with Sangita below to introduce the topic.
Can you tell us about yourself and your role at Vink Chemicals? What have been some of the highlights of your career?
My name is Sangita Singh and I am Head of Product Development at Vink chemicals . In my current role, I am responsible for the development of new biocide formulations ensuring compliance with regulations, supporting various projects across Vink Chemicals entities and providing technical support to customers.
Throughout my career, I have had a privilege of working on several projects in various Countries. At Prom Chem, I led a project “Synthesis of 1,2-Benzisothiazolin-3-one “. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also reinforced importance of teamwork and innovation. One of proudest moments was navigating teams/company through a challenging period of take over of various companies.
This role required me to get involved in technology transfer to various toll manufacturers where I used my skills of strategic planning, risk management and stakeholder engagement. This was first time Vink chemicals got involved in synthesis, and it was rewarding to see our efforts lead to growth of the company. Overall, my journey at Vink Chemicals and in the industry has been incredibly fulfilling. I am passionate about sustainability, innovation in chemical solutions, or safety standards, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth and success of our company and the industry as a whole.
You are speaking in the session on next generation metalworking fluids. What would you say are the top three challenges and trends driving this sector at present?
- Sustainability has become an important element to be considered in the manufacturing industry. Sustainable manufacturing has led machining industries to replace petroleum-based lubricants with bio-derived lubricants (vegetable oil). However a whole new study has to be carried out to understand the human and environmental impact of bio-derived lubricants and this could take sometime and of course cost has to be considered as well. This transition will include all interested parties of the complete supply chain from the farmers to the consumers.
- Adaptation of Microbes For water-miscible MEFs the high ratio of water and organic compounds, aerated by recirculation ,provides conditions conductive to microbial growth and metabolism. This will be the new area to identification of microbes through mutations as we will face Short-term adaption and Long-term adaptation.
- Regulatory pressure is increasing. With new laws put in place every year to govern the production/use of chemicals and with existing regulations constantly changing to keep pace with scientific advancement, navigating the chemical regulatory landscape has become a challenge. As a result of this rapidly growing complexity, many companies now find that their regulatory compliance and environmental health and safety (EHS) teams are falling behind due to lack of capacity and staffing shortages. Not only are businesses forced to stay up to date with changes, but they must do so while also ensuring they can deliver on all of their regulatory requirements. And as more and more countries implement their own varieties of chemical legislation, this challenge expands to the global level.
What will attendees learn from your presentation and why is it important that they attend?
Attendees will learn several key insights from my presentation: They will gain understanding of regulation and the latest developments of preservation system. This knowledge is crucial for staying complaint in their field. Practical Applications: HOLISTIC APPROACH TO PRESERVATION – Cleaning/Sanitisation should be the beginning not the end of the Production cycle. Latest Trends and Innovations: The presentation will cover the latest trends, research, and innovations in the industry. Staying updated with the current trends is vital for strategic planning.
What are you most looking forward to at Lubricant Expo Europe?
As a first time attendee there are several aspects of Expo I am looking forward to; Lubricant Expo is a great platform to explore potential collaborations and I am looking forward to identifying opportunities for collaborative efforts. Understanding the latest trends and future directions of the industry is crucial. I am excited to learn about emerging trends and how they will shape the future, allowing me to be part of these changes.
