- What area of the lubricants industry do you specialize in, and how does it benefit the industry?
Our multifunctional (co)-emulsifiers enhance the hard water and emulsion stability, foam control, corrosion inhibition and cleanliness, thus are indispensable for long lifetime and high-performance metalworking and metal cleaning fluids.
- What do you think are the industry’s biggest challenges?
Establishing new concepts to enabling formulation development of more sustainable fluids by balancing high performance multifunctional additives with a special focus on the emulsifier package.
The multifunctional additives identified increase formulator’s options to include more bio-based chemicals to minimize the carbon footprint.
- How do you see the industry developing over the next 10+ years?
The increasing attention to environmental and health impacts of industrial activities goes along with the huge effort to increase the renewable carbon content of fluids.
This is forcing formulators to work with new more challenging formulation concepts.
Petrochemical base oils are (at least partly) exchanged by next generation renewable base oils (such as vegetable oils, esters, refined oils etc.) are a great starting point for environmentally friendly machining with similar performance compared to pure mineral oil-based fluids.
