SEQENS Advanced Specialties offers a wide variety of technologies, from extreme pressure additives, emulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors and anti-wear additives as well tailor-made calcium sulfonates for metal protection and greases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With more than 50 years of experience in scaling up and custom manufacturing, SEQENS Advanced Specialties also develops custom solutions for the lubricant industry and offers a continuum of expertise from the laboratory to industrial scale to its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARCOT\u00ae CALCIUM SULFONATES RANGE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the years SEQENS Advanced Specialties acquired a strong expertise in carbonatation process and propose a unique range of corrosion & rust prevention additives, ARCOT\u00ae<\/strong>, based on calcium sulfonates chemistry. (figure 1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEQENS Advanced Specialties is constantly looking to improve its lubricant additives. Improvements can come from HSE requirements, supply chain reliability as well as search of performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARCOT\u00ae <\/strong>additives have different structures, neutral or overbased calcium sulfonates and can be solvent-based, mineral-based or water-based depending on the customers requirements of formulation in term of protection time, demulsification or film type. (figure 2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solvent-based ARCOT\u00ae<\/strong>, such as ARCOT\u00ae 610HV<\/strong> or ARCOT\u00ae 609<\/strong>, have flash point below 60\u00b0C and are considered as flammable with the GHS02 associated labeling. Thus, SEQENS decided to work on a non-flammable alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By using a higher flash point solvent, SEQENS can propose a safer alternative with similar performances to its customers, ARCOT\u00ae CS 203<\/strong>. With a flash point above 70\u00b0C, ARCOT\u00ae CS 203 <\/strong>is asolvent based polar overbased calcium sulfonate additive for the formulation of a wide range of film forming anticorrosion protection. It is compatible with most hydrocarbons, solvents, mineral oils, waxes, petrolatums and resins. ARCOT\u00ae CS 203<\/strong> is used for rust preventive applications such as protection products for ballast tank, industrial gears and other devices as well as automotive undercoating and cavity protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mineral-based ARCOT\u00ae<\/strong>, such as ARCOT\u00ae 626 F<\/strong> or ARCOT\u00ae 645<\/strong>, are designed with group I base stocks. The economic viability and supply reliability of Group I base stocks has been compromised by new specifications requirements in term of Sulphur content in marine fuels, reducing exhaust emissions and fuel economy for engine oils formulations. Meanwhile, high quality Group II and Group III are widely available on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In medium term, Group I supply will not be able to satisfy demand in mainstream markets such as marine, metalworking fluids and other large industrial applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anticipating supply issues of Group I base stocks, SEQENS Advanced Specialties developed ARCOT\u00ae additives based on highly refined base stocks<\/strong>. ARCOT\u00ae NH 302<\/strong> is the first neutral calcium sulfonate of its generation, displaying enhanced rust preventive performances. ARCOT\u00ae NH 302<\/strong> is used in industrial applications as a barium replacement where excellent rust protection and water resistance is required. ARCOT\u00ae NH 302<\/strong> is a rust inhibitor additive highly recommended for formulation short-term protection rust preventive fluids.  It can also be used for metalworking fluids, hydraulic oils, slideway oils and greases formulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEQENS Advanced Specialties is continuously looking for additives\u2019 improvements. For example, further work is in progress to get non-labeled ARCOT\u00ae <\/strong>additives keeping similar anticorrosion performances and to extend ARCOT\u00ae <\/strong>range with rust preventive packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
